Could I do this?When it comes to food, I don't think I have what it takes to go on a diet. I don't like the "unhappiness" associated with having to eat a salad at a nice steak house. It just isn't me.I'm also quite content with who I am and how I look. I frankly like having the freedom to eat whatever I think tastes good. I don't like, however, not fitting easily into my pants and not having a belt that fits real well. (So perhaps this is all about avoiding shopping for clothes?) More significantly, I've eaten at Subway many times, and I actually enjoy the food. Finding out that the food there is low in fat is actually a bonus, and has nothing to do with why I would eat there in the first place. Consider this: any time that I have no plans for a particular meal, my "default setting" is to eat fast food. It's fast. It's food. 'Nuf said. (Cooking is most certainly not my default setting; that would be in the "plans for a meal" category.) And so, arbitrarily, I will find myself driving through Burger King and ordering two 99-cent Whoppers with cheese and a Coke (I don't actually like fries and so I generally get a second burger instead). It turns out that the calorie and fat content of that "arbitrary choice" is alarmingly high. Are you ready for the numbers? Do you think you can handle the answer? It's... |
